Advice that connects you with your goals

“I enjoy working with business owners in a high-communication relationship that enables me to evaluate a business’s operations and implement ideas that achieve what the owner wants. Over the years, it’s been fascinating to see how an individual’s ideas and efforts can turn into a successful business that provides jobs for employees, funds for college education, products and services for customers, and financial security for families. It’s been very satisfying to help that happen.”

Experience

Joe has been providing clients with bottom-line–boosting accounting, tax and advisory services for more than 20 years. Before co-founding BSPJ in 1987, he worked in the tax department of Deloitte & Touche for four years. His extensive tax experience includes:

  • Compliance and filing of personal and business income tax returns.
  • Tax planning, capital formation and debt financing for closely held businesses.
  • Tax-advantaged financial and retirement planning for business owners.
  • Representation before federal and state tax authorities for conflict resolution and collection matters.

Expertise

Joe focuses on advising closely held businesses and their owners on ways to minimize their taxes and achieve their financial goals. He also oversees the tax and planning component of BSPJ’s outsourced bookkeeping services for professional service businesses. His expertise includes:

  • Business reorganization and recapitalization, financial restructuring, and business turnarounds.
  • Management advisory on business opportunity decisions.
  • International transactions and taxation of foreign-based companies with operations and investments in the United States.
  • Litigation support services for clients involved in business disputes and negotiations.
  • Implementing technology for efficiently managing internal accounting operations and tax filing.

Approach

Joe seeks to become a “partner” of business-owners and entrepreneurs to help them grow and manage their businesses in a way that will contribute to the financial well-being and security of their families.
